IntelliTrack Assets Bundles & VeriMy integrates with WMS to streamline IT asset management across multiple warehouse locations

BACKGROUND

Barcoding’s customer, a manufacturer and distributor of products for the home with warehouse facilities in the U.S. Midwest and West, was using a warehouse management system (WMS). But when it came to tracking fixed, rotational, and IT assets, it was still using spreadsheets—which were maintained at corporate headquarters rather than at the facilities where assets were actually used.

So when the customer purchased 50 new scanners and printers from Barcoding, there was no process in place for device check-outs and check-ins. The customer also needed an efficient way to track newly purchased equipment—and to manage its previously purchased equipment and assets.

CHALLENGES

Without an asset tracking system in place, the customer had no real visibility into any of its assets, so service contracts and depreciation spreadsheets kept by Finance were inaccurate—and RMAs for forklifts and older equipment often required multiple calls to OEMs.

Without a check-out/check-in process, devices were often left on forklifts at the end of a shift rather than returned for charging. Across all locations, valuable employee time was going to waste and productivity was lagging.

SOLUTIONS

Barcoding helped the customer implement our IntelliTrack^® solution, IT Assets with VeriMy^TM, Fixed Assets, and Rotational Assets bundles, all of which integrated with the customer’s WMS.

VeriMy effectively automates device check-out and check-in, making it easy for employees to return scanners at the end of a shift and preventing lost devices. Asset tracking bundles eliminate the use of inaccurate spreadsheets, accurately track asset inventories by location, and keep depreciation and service contract data up to date. RMAs are tracked across locations and deliver asset visibility directly to corporate, even tracking assets that move from warehouse to warehouse.

The customer now has complete, accurate visibility into all asset inventory, locations, and statuses, and RMAs are simple to enter and easy to track.

RESULTS

New, streamlined processes are standardized across all warehouse locations, and IntelliTrack’s WMS integration eliminates double entry of asset-related information to reduce errors and eliminate extra tasks.

With easy device check-out/check-in, devices are no longer left in work areas.

The customer now has complete, accurate visibility into all asset inventory, locations, and statuses, and RMAs are simple to enter and easy to track. Financial and service contracts are accurate across all assets—even when they move from one facility to another.

And by eliminating all the extra work and lost time, the customer achieved a major increase in warehouse productivity.
