FOUNDER AND CEO
In 1998, Jay Steinmetz founded the company known today as Barcoding in his apartment in Baltimore. Barcoding became an Inc. 500 company in 2004 and was recognized by Forbes magazine as one of 10 Privately Held Technology Companies to Watch. Today, Barcoding is the leader in supply chain efficiency, accuracy and connectivity, with headquarters in Baltimore, Maryland, and offices across North America in Chicago, Houston, Seattle, Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver.
A graduate of the prestigious Berger Entrepreneurship Program at the University of Arizona, Steinmetz began his career at FMC Corporation, where he designed, developed and installed multiple equipment tracking systems before going to work for, and obtaining an equity interest in, AccuScan. After the acquisition of AccuScan by Peak Technologies, Steinmetz became the product manager for a line of data collection software products before overseeing the design and development of RF/Batch application programs.
Steinmetz chaired the State of Maryland Technology Development Corporation (TEDCO) for two years before stepping down to focus on his appointment to Governor Martin O’Malley’s Commission on Small Business. Later, Steinmetz was nominated to serve on Governor Larry Hogan’s Regulatory Reform Commission. Steinmetz has sat on the boards of Port Discovery, Best Buddies and the Associated Career Services organization. Currently, he serves as a board member of LifeBridge Health Sinai Hospital, Maryland Business for Responsive Government, Baltimore Efficiency and Economy Foundation, and the University of Baltimore Merrick School of Business.
Steinmetz has been named a “Most Admired CEO” by The Maryland Daily Record, a Top 40 Business Leader Under 40 by the Baltimore Business Journal and Entrepreneur of the Year for the State of Maryland in Technology from Ernst & Young.
PRESIDENT
Shane Snyder directs the company’s day-to-day business operations and leads expansions into traditional markets. In 2019, he led the launch of Barcoding-Canada, as the company expanded to open three new offices in Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver to better serve and support clients across North America.
With more than 25 years of success in sales management, workforce management, consulting, and decision support sectors, Snyder joined Barcoding as Vice President of Sales in 2010. In this position, Snyder led Barcoding’s national sales force, reconstituted the inside sales organization, and opened an office in Chicago. He was promoted to president in 2013.
Prior to joining Barcoding, Snyder founded and led his own business, Work Confident, to offer employee life cycle management solutions to emerging small companies and established mid-sized companies throughout the mid-Atlantic. Previously, he served as Executive Vice President of Sales for Catalyst IT Services, where he built a new sales team and increased revenue run rate by 70%. Snyder began his career in 1986 as a sales rep at Kronos Inc. He became the firm’s National Director of Sales in 2001 and helped Kronos achieve a four-year revenue growth of 450% and a 120% increase in sales, among many other achievements.
CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER (CTO)
Martin Jack is an executive technology leader whose primary focus is on mobile and wireless solutions for commercial and government industries. He has more than 20 years of experience in software engineering for mobile and wireless systems, project management and technical consulting.
As Barcoding’s CTO, Jack leads the Professional Services Team, which comprises the Software Services, Professional Services and Wireless Services Groups, as well as the RFID Technology Team. Prior to his role as CTO, Jack was director of Barcoding’s Software Services Group, where he was responsible for building a strong team that delivered industry-leading software products for the AIDC industry.
Formerly, Jack was president and chief software engineer at Point of Activity, Inc., where he focused on mobile and wireless software services for government and commercial enterprises. Before Point of Activity, Inc., he founded JackCreations, LLC, where he developed custom software for Commercial companies in the AIDC industry.
VICE PRESIDENT, CLIENT SOLUTIONS
Keri Corbin is leading the Client Solutions group, whose primary focus is designing and delivering solutions that increase customer efficiency and accuracy, and creating lasting connections for Barcoding’s customer’s clients, employees, and trading partners.
With over 20 years of Program, Service and Portfolio management experience in Information Systems Management, Keri specializes in building out consolidated process and delivery efficiencies, along with large program and portfolio management across logistics, healthcare, banking, insurance, and financial services industries. Using her breadth of knowledge, Keri has been successful in working across Sales, Marketing, Operations, Finance, and IT groups to build, develop and deliver products, services, and programs. Her systematic and collaborative yet decisive style allows Keri to make systematic and practical decisions identifying what the business needs and building a strategy accordingly.
Keri’s passion at work is mentorship and development of people. She credits her career to strong mentors and leaders along the way and continues to assist with up-and-coming career-driven people to pay that forward. Coming from an operations background into IT, Keri leads with a business-first approach and translates that into IT requirements for the best possible delivery to our customers.
Prior to coming to Barcoding, Keri has held numerous leadership roles in the Program and Service management space, including DHL Supply Chain, Cardinal Health, and Nationwide Insurance.
VICE PRESIDENT, FINANCE
Brooks Schuler is responsible for overseeing the company’s financial operations, including providing accurate, relevant, and timely financial reports for executing strategic decision making. Schuler also oversees accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll for the company. Prior to joining Barcoding as the director of finance in 2016, he served as financial controller for Les Mills US and a financial analyst at T. Rowe Price. Schuler started his career in 2002 as a staff accountant at Barcoding.
VICE PRESIDENT, MARKETING & STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS
Jody is responsible for all aspects of strategic marketing and communications for the company. In this position, she drives Barcoding’s content strategy, multi-tier marketing campaigns, and various events and programs that enhance the Barcoding brand. Creative and professional, Costa is also a freelance consultant and writer whose poetry has won several industry and local awards.
Prior to Barcoding, Costa served as executive editor for Marketplace Books where she managed the print and digital publishing program and launched several new marketing initiatives. Costa began her career as a proposal writer for Stout Causey Consulting where she wrote and produced all technical proposals. Costa is an active board member of several community and charitable organizations.
VICE PRESIDENT, OPERATIONS
Dan is responsible for managing the “Quote to Cash” process. This includes implementing company-wide processes and systems that help both internal and external customers cut costs, generate cash, and improve the customer experience. A 10+ year employee, Perlak has spent time working in multiple facets of the company including sales, operations and logistics.
VICE PRESIDENT, SALES
Matt has a proven track record of successful business development and account management within the supply chain, logistics, and mobile technology markets. In his current position, Cunningham leads Barcoding’s nationwide sales efforts, developing new business opportunities for the systems integrator.
Cunningham came to Barcoding in 2009 as the regional sales director for the Central region. Previously, he held several sales management roles with solution providers and resellers, including Panasonic, Psion Teklogix, and Miles Technologies.

DIRECTOR OF PARTNER SOLUTIONS
With more than 20 years of experience in the automatic identification and data capture (AIDC) business, Zalinski continuously enables customers to become more efficient, accurate, and connected in the supply chain industry by educating them on labeling and identification.
Using his experience in the field, Zalinski understands the importance of not only tracking data, but analyzing it to gain further visibility into the warehouse, and even the enterprise as a whole, so that supply chain leaders can make better decisions and drive growth.
LEAD SYSTEMS ENGINEER
Brian Harvey has over 21 years of experience in the industry and oversees the full implementation of Barcoding’s solutions—from inception to its full life cycle. Additionally, Harvey provides ongoing support to ensure his client’s supply chains are more efficient, accurate, and connected. Notably, he has successfully completed SOTI’s MobiControl Associate, Professional and Expert training courses to become a Certified MobiControl Expert. These are the highest certifications awarded by SOTI—the world’s most trusted provider of Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) solutions.
CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER
Martin Jack focuses on mobile and wireless solutions for commercial and government industries. He has more than 20 years of experience in software engineering for mobile and wireless systems, project management and technical consulting.
As Barcoding’s CTO, Jack leads the Professional Services Division. Prior to this role, Jack was director of Barcoding’s Software Services Group, where he was responsible for building a strong team that delivered industry-leading software products for the AIDC industry.
Formerly, Jack was president and chief software engineer at Point of Activity, Inc., where he focused on mobile and wireless software services for Government and Commercial enterprises. Before Point of Activity, Inc., he founded Jack Creations, LLC, where he developed custom software for commercial companies in the AIDC industry.
DIRECTOR, VERSATILE MOBILE SYSTEMS
Andrew Lynch is the director of Versatile Mobile Systems (VMS). Lynch co-founded the company with his brother in 1993 after seeing that retailers and manufacturers needed a partner to assist in the deployment and maintenance of barcode scanners and other handheld devices. By 2000 the company had experienced exponential growth and was sold to a public company.
In April 2017, VMS was purchased by Barcoding, Inc. and continues to provide superior service to clients ranging from mid-size companies to Fortune 500 manufacturers and retailers. Over the past 25 years, Lynch has held many positions in the company including the owner, sales manager, partner, and director of hardware. In his current role, Lynch is responsible for the P&L and overall health of VMS, as well as many of the day-to-day operations.
