It’s time for another #TBT! This is the sixth installment of our Video of the Week series looking back at panels and events from our 8th Annual Executive Forum. If you have not yet seen last week’s video, a workshop about integrating Continuous Improvement into the workplace, you can find it here.

Today’s Video
Today we are featuring the very first breakout session of EF8. The day of festivities kicked off with an interview between Eric Bunts, CIO of Mirabito Holdings, Inc., and our own Jody Costa, Vice President of Marketing at Barcoding, Inc. Last year, Bunts’ team at Mirabito Holdings was the recipient of Barcoding’s Innovator of the Year award. We brought him in to discuss how he helped inspire a forward-thinking mindset in his company and strategies for innovation for your own business.

Investing in Innovation
With the constant cycle of new tech coming onto the scene and old tech suddenly becoming out-of-date, it can be hard to keep up! When your business has been accustomed to a certain way for a long time, it can be difficult to shake up your business model. But, “innovation” does not have to be a scary word. There are ways to invigorate your process that can help you adapt and find success.

Innovator of the Year
Mirabito is a full-service energy product supplier that has been family-owned and operated since 1927. Bunts has worked at Mirabito for 13 years and in order to keep up with the challenges that come with a rapidly-changing industry, he has constantly been finding ways to innovate. In this interview, Bunts explains how he adapted to the “technology revolution,” from maintaining security, to implementing changes, to finding smart partnerships.

In 2017, Barcoding and Mirabito teamed up twice to develop innovative solutions. When Mirabito was faced with internet connectivity issues at their convenience store retail locations, we developed a cellular network backup to help them stay connected. For our second partnership, we utilized mobile technology in Mirabito’s fleet of 95 trucks. The new system allows vehicles to be managed remotely so that drivers and headquarters can now be in better communication.
