At MODEX 2020, our president, Shane Snyder, had the pleasure of being interviewed by Bob Bowman, Editor-In-Chief of industry thought leadership platform SupplyChainBrain. In the video, you can hear Snyder’s thoughts on where supply chain technology modernization is headed and how it will evolve over time. Keep reading to learn more:

An Ongoing Evolution
Snyder sums up the past and future of supply chain technology modernization with one key word—evolution. The processes, technology, and industry overall is constantly evolving. Technology providers are always trying to find new ways to leverage technology to give end-users the best possible experience.

“I think the biggest evolution we are going to see is in the last-mile piece of the supply chain,” said Snyder.

Especially now, as we navigate the effects of COVID-19, there is increased demand for delivered goods, from traditional online consumer purchases to new models like Uber Freight. Furthermore, there is a high demand for those goods to be delivered quickly, such as 2-day, next-day, or even same-day shipping. Modernizing the delivery process is crucial to stay on top of these demands.

Adapting to New Demands
For organizations, adapting to these new demands is not an easy task, but it’s certainly not impossible. Barriers like limited capital or the up-front training requirements of implementing new devices can cause resistance. However, by investing in research and development, companies can get a good sense of what they need to change in order to see results.

“There’s no shortage of new technologies that are being released…it’s a matter of how do I leverage those to meet requirements,” stated Snyder. Making the most of these new mobile technologies will help your company to keep up.

Leveraging Android
Snyder also explains how the shift to Android provides excellent opportunity for modernization. The power of Android yields unlimited possibilities in terms of applications and technologies. From security, to data capture and image capture, and beyond, there are lots new and exciting ways to maximize efficiency and flexibility. Barcoding can help as you make the switch to Android—head to our Android Resource Center to learn more.
