The team here at Barcoding, Inc. would like to introduce you to SSD Freya, the fourth dog we've sponsored through Susquehanna Service Dogs! SSD Freya was named by Rashaad Stuart, Deployment Services Supervisor, winner of our 2nd annual chili cookoff with our partner, Honeywell. We're so excited for you to meet her!

SSD Freya came to Susquehanna Service Dogs’ program from Eyes Ears Nose and Paws in North Carolina. She’s a very sweet dog who’s ready to learn. Right now, she’s practicing the cue “sit” and learning to walk calmly on a loose leash. She’s also learning self-control around her food dish, sitting and waiting patiently for the “okay.” All these skills and more will help her become a successful assistance dog.

SSD Freya

Each dog Susquehanna Service Dogs places are individually trained to mitigate their partner’s disability and enhance their life. Dogs can assist people with physical disabilities that impact mobility or balance, as well as people with psychiatric disabilities, autism, PTSD, and seizure disorders. SSD also trains facility dogs, as well as hearing dogs, to assist people with hearing impairments.

We’re so pleased to partner once again with Barcoding, Inc. and Honeywell to name a puppy that will have such a big impact. Not only does our work at SSD help people to live more independently and confidently, but it creates communities that are more accepting and inclusive. Dogs like SSD Freya change lives.”
Deb Tack, Director of Susquehanna Service Dogs

Training starts from the moment a dog is born to set them up for future success. SSD Freya will spend the next 15-18 months with her puppy raiser, who will teach her good house manners, self-control, and over 20 different foundational cues. Freya will then enter Advanced Training, where SSD’s professional trainers will match her with her partner and individually train her in specific tasks specially designed for her partner’s unique needs.

About Susquehanna Service Dogs
