Will QR Codes Increase Voter Registration?

As October comes to an end, November prompts many to focus on this years’ upcoming election. An organization called Rock the Vote, targeted towards younger voters, is using QR codes to help promote voter registration.

While only ten states allow voters to register online, Rock the Vote wanted to take full advantage by not only setting up at college campuses, but also handing out t-shirts to further spread their QR codes throughout campus and beyond. In addition to being able to register to vote, the QR codes allow for users to pledge to vote and join online conversations about the candidates and the issues at hand.

Recruiting younger voters is essential, especially since many states make voting difficult for young people attending college out-of-state.

Approximately 14 million Americans used QR codes in June 2011, over half being between the ages of 18 and 35. But will QR codes that allow for online voter registration truly rock the vote? Share your thoughts by commenting below, or on our Facebook or twitter pages.
