Radiation Proof RFID
RFID is frequently used in hospital environments, but RFID tags haven’t always been radiation proof… until now. Standard RFID products lose their memory when exposed to radiation, but new radiation-resistant RFID labels would be able to live on medical components and containers through the entirety of their lives.
RFID can be a very sensitive technology, and adapting it to meet harsh environmental challenges such as radiation has been a challenge. In addition to being radiation resistant, these new RFID labels offer full read/write functionality, have a memory capacity of 256 bytes and are compliant with ISO and EPCgloabal standards.
Hopefully these radiation resistant RFID labels will allow RFID to be a more frequently explored and used technology in the medical field.
