Microsoft Embedded 8 Platform on Motorola Devices
At the National Retail Federation’s (NRF) 102nd Annual Convention & Expo, Motorola Solutions featured a variety of different enterprise mobile solutions. Namely, they announced expanding their mobile computing portfolio to include devices build on the Microsoft Windows Embedded 8 Handheld platform. Introducing these devices into their current product offering will enhance Motorola’s future solutions.
During the NRF’s Big Show, Motorola and Microsoft showcased the new Motorola enterprise mobile computing prototypes running Windows Embedded 8 Handheld.
The Windows Embedded 8 Handhelds will support Motorola’s RhoElements and users will gain enterprise-grade security and manageability. In addition, enterprise users will be able to create business apps much more efficiently—the same APIs are available in Windows Embedded 8 Standard and Industry platforms, so its easy to make an application on Motorola devices and then use it on other embedded devices.
“Together with Microsoft, Motorola Solutions will deliver specialized, durable, enterprise mobile devices for line-of-business applications across the retail supply chain from manufacturing to the retail store floor,” said Girish Rishi, senior vice president, Enterprise Solutions, Motorola Solutions.
