Join Zebra in Helping The Red Cross Save Lives

Did you know that only 3 out of 100 people in the U.S. donate blood? A few weeks ago, the American Red Cross announced that it is experiencing a “severe blood shortage.”

The warmer months are a particularly difficult time, and supplies often become so low that entire blood types are missing from their supplies. Now, with the added challenges caused by COVID-19, blood donations are dwindling to critical levels as people stay home due to social distancing. However, donations and aid are needed now more than ever before.

Zebra Technologies and the Red Cross
The Red Cross plays an essential role in caring for our communities, providing aid to those who need it most when they need it most. They work to maintain a sufficient supply of blood for patients in need and provide critical relief services.

We believe in the importance of supporting our communities in ways both big and small, so that everyone can be safe and healthy. Our partner, Zebra Technologies, has a year-round philanthropic partnership with the Red Cross and has already donated $25,000 towards coronavirus relief efforts.

Zebra is also participating in a #MissingTypes campaign, raising awareness for the blood shortage by removing As, Bs, and Os from their logo. The campaign aims to encourage 325,000 people to schedule blood donation appointments in the month of June to help. Together, we can help eliminate the shortage so that all who need blood can receive it. Learn more here.

How You Can Help
In stressful times, it is easy to feel overwhelmed and like there isn’t anything you can do to help. By donating blood, you are making a contribution that could save a life. Someone needs blood every 2 seconds so, if you are able to, we strongly encourage you to schedule a blood donation The Red Cross is taking the necessary precautions like individual appointments and increased disinfection practices to keep donors and volunteers safe.

If you have the resources, donating monetarily to the Red Cross is another great way to help out. Many local Red Cross chapters also have volunteer opportunities, like delivering meals or medicine to those in quarantine. In these difficult times, every bit counts and helps keep our loved ones, neighbors, and communities safe!
