Forbes Uses Microsoft Tag for Subscription Renewal
Renewing your magazine subscription can be a bit annoying at times—you get a card or letter in the mail, then have to remember to either fill it out, or go online. Forbes recently updated their subscription renewal process by including Microsoft Tags on their direct mail campaigns. Now, subscribers can simply use their smartphones to scan the tag and renew via an easy-to-use mobile site.
While Microsoft Tags have been used quite a bit in magazines, they usually just link to more information, or a contest entry form. By linking to a mobile version of the subscription renewal page, I’ll be Forbes will see an increase in their number of subscriptions.
The only thing that may not be convenient for some subscribers is having to download Microsoft’s proprietary app, Tag Reader, rather than being able to use a barcode scanning app of their choice.
