BYOD Security Concerns

I came across an interesting infographic regarding the current state of BYOD. So far, 59% of companies state that they have a BYOD policy in place. But, of the companies that don’t have a BYOD policy in place, 79% state that some of their employees use their personal devices for business anyway. This is great cause for concern, as companies without the proper BYOD security measures in place could be putting themselves at great risk. At the end of the day, employees are going to find the most convenient way to check their work email, so companies should embrace BYOD in order to ensure the proper security measures are in place.

Luckily, Gartner predicts 90% of companies will allow BOYD by 2014. Until then, some of the biggest security challenges IT professionals see with BYOD are:

  • Lost or stolen devices
  • Loss of company data
  • Misuse of devices
  • Mobile malware
