Breaking World Records at Barcoding’s 7th Annual Executive Forum

Written by Barcoding, Inc. | Oct 27, 2017

Held in the M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Barcoding’s 7th Annual Executive Forum was one for the [World Record] books! Industry leaders in the mobile technology and supply chain spaces, or as we like to call them #SupplyChainGeeks, came together on Oct. 12, 2017 to share their personal experiences, insights and outlook on future innovations.

Keri Speciale Corbin, keynote speaker and director of IT Infrastructure Service Management, DHL Supply Chain North America, kicked off Executive Forum 7: Be Efficient – Accurate – ConnectedTM with a discussion on fostering communication and trust within an organization in order to drive innovation. Keri used her own real-life examples to illustrate how active listening, respect, transparency and advocacy for positive intent led to her successful supply chain career.

Following the keynote, David Rush, senior product manager, Cradlepoint, gave an insightful presentation about 5G – what it is, when it’s coming and how we should prepare for it. David explained how 5G will allow enterprises to build upon and improve technologies we currently have today and enable many new applications and opportunities. Attendees were blown away by his incredible five-ball juggling demonstration, which David uses to promote STEM education.

Other morning sessions included a presentation on enterprise asset intelligence led by Farris Habbaba from Zebra Technologies; meeting global standards in label automation presented by Peter Zalinski, product manager, Identification Solutions, Barcoding, Inc.; a joint discussion by Martin Jack, chief technology officer, Barcoding, Inc. and Padraig Regan, general manager, Europe at StayLinked, about moving to Android; and digitizing the supply chain, and Todd Farley, director of global strategic accounts, Impinj.

During lunch, David Rush was back at it again. Attendees gathered to cheer him on as he attempted to set his 26th Guinness World Record for “World’s Fastest 5-ball Juggler.” After a few tries, David exceeded his goal and was able to make 407 catches in one minute. Following the performance, Jay Steinmetz, Barcoding’s founder and CEO, presented the 2017 “Innovator of the Year” award to Mirabito. Barcoding selected Mirabito for their ability to recognize and address the connectivity needs of their convenience stores and delivery fleet by implementing innovative solutions and devices. Attendees were also given the opportunity to learn about Barcoding’s partnership with Ronald McDonald House Charities of Baltimore, a program that provides a “home-away-from-home” for seriously ill children and their families.

After a great networking session, afternoon presentations picked back up. Barcoding’s very own Ken Currie, vice president of business development, discussed telematics – a platform for transformation; Honeywell’s Lyle Sprinkle took us inside the world of augmented and virtual reality; Barcoding’s senior systems engineer Brian Harvey detailed best practices in mobile implementations; and IntelliTrack’s Noel McKeon went over best practices for IoT and asset intelligence.

Rounding out the event, Chase Sowden, Barcoding’s enterprise architect, gave attendees ideas for more efficient warehouses, such as improving people, processes and technology – in that order.

Barcoding would like to thank all of the sponsors and attendees for coming to this year’s Executive Forum. If you didn’t already join the #SupplyChainGeek Network, join today to receive the latest updates and view presentations from the Executive Forum!
