Barcoding Partners with PCs for People to Help Close Digital Divide

Written by Jody Costa | Jan 22, 2021

When it comes to technology, we are firm believers in accessibility for all; especially during a time when access to technology deeply affects and impacts education, work, and our connection to the world and those we love.

By partnering with PCs for People – Maryland, we intend to give our company’s technology new life in the effort to drive out the digital divide. After a critical review of PCs for People – Maryland’s processes, our CTO Martin Jack spearheaded Barcoding’s first donation of used PCs. The dedicated staff at PCs for People – Maryland refurbishes the equipment according to the highest security standards and then delivers the computers and tablets to families in need. Any devices that are out of commission or not able to be fixed will be recycled, with the proceeds going to PCs for People’s digital literacy programs, technical support services, and subsidized internet access.

“As Supply Chain Geeks, we know that having access to the right technology, properly deployed, creates transformative opportunities,” said Martin Jack, Chief Technology Officer at Barcoding. “As part of our community commitment, we’ve always taken great care to minimize our environmental footprint and leverage our resources for social responsibility. Being able to repurpose our computers with PCs for People is a win-win.”

We can all win together by lending a hand to our community! Interested in contributing yourself? Contact them today for free pickup of your organization’s retired devices or learn more about PCs for People and their mission.
