The EasyADC™ System designed by Intermec Technologies automates shipping, receiving, basic inventory tracking, and barcode label printing. This software package continues the Intermec legacy of delivering reliable, rugged automatic data collection products. Barcoding Inc. integrates EasyADC with several accounting software packages including Microsoft Dynamics GP™ (formerly Great Plains™).

The Background

Richard MacDonald is one of the most collected figurative bronze sculptors at work today. He currently operates eight galleries in five states across the country. When Richard MacDonald Galleries first began consultations with Barcoding Incorporated in late 2005, they were taking inventory of their galleries with a pencil and a pad of paper. These inventory counts could take up to two days to fully complete as each piece had to be inspected, cataloged, and then manually entered into the system.

The galleries were using Microsoft’s Great Plains as their accounting software and wanted a comprehensive inventory management program that would cleanly integrate with their accounting package requiring little or no custom development. They had a short time frame to accomplish this as their galleries needed to be properly inventoried for the upcoming holiday season.

How Barcoding Inc. helped The Richard MacDonald Galleries

Barcoding Inc. proposed a solution to The Richard MacDonald Galleries comprised of Intermec’s EasyADC software, two Intermec CK31 mobile computers, one Cisco access point, and an Intermec EasyCoder barcode printer. This system is easily integrated with any of several accounting packages, including Microsoft’s Great Plains which was used by galleries.

The intuitive system is designed to be up and running in less than a day. It uses the same rugged components that are used by thousands of enterprise and leading small and midsize businesses across the country. EasyADC was deployed in three of the eight galleries with options to easily expand the system to the remaining five.

The Results

The Richard MacDonald Galleries installed this system in three of their galleries in one afternoon. Inventory counts which would take up to two days are now completed in just over an hour, in all three locations. With the wireless network set-up using the Cisco Access Point, inventory counts are now performed in real-time, and each gallery is connected through an integrated wireless network.

This system fully integrates the galleries inventory system with their accounting system, tying in financial records with inventory counts in three of their eight galleries with room for expansion to the remaining five galleries in the upcoming year.
