Spectrum analysis of your wireless network

A Barcoding Inc. technician will walk through your facility with a handheld Spectrum Analyzer to create a color map of the radio wave propagation within your facility. This activity will give a good description of possible trouble spots and uncover any objects that might interfere with your network.

Validation of infrastructure layout

At this stage, the technician will review the physical hook-up of each access point as well as the cabling throughout your facility. This ensures proper connection of your access points, hubs, switches, and routers.

Access point audit

In this step, the technician reviews your access points, ensuring they are up to date on firmware revisions, as well as validating their configuration. The access points are also analyzed to determine the signal propagation and threshold.

Battery analysis

It is not uncommon for batteries to start losing their ability to hold a charge. At this stage, the Barcoding Inc. technician will review the batteries in your hardware devices, making sure the contacts are clean, and they can still hold their charge. A software package can be placed on each hardware terminal to monitor the charge of each device from a centralized location.

RF terminal audit (handheld & vehicle mount)

At this point in the evaluation, the technician will review all firmware, making sure it is up to date, validate configuration settings, and check open issues against known fixes in newer versions. They will also check to make sure keyboards are functioning and any vehicle mounts are securely in tact. Most importantly, the technician will check to ensure the device has good communication with your wireless network.

Security Analysis

Security is one of the biggest concerns with installing a wireless network. That is why Barcoding Inc. has developed many installation methods and integration techniques to ensure your wireless network is as secure as you hard-wired network. Barcoding Inc. technicians take security one step further than WEP or KERBEROS by understanding the intricacies of radio propagation throughout your facility. A technician will walk around the inside of your facility with a spectrum analyzer to detect possible threats, as well as around the outside perimeter looking for any possible breaks in the network.

Deliverable Results

With the audits and evaluations that are performed at your facility, Barcoding Inc. will provide you with a full color, bound report of your facility, complete with pictures of current access point positions, an analysis of current configurations and positioning, as well as a coverage map.

The coverage map gives you a topology analysis. The topology diagram is a color coded AP coverage map overlaid on your blueprint illustrating redundancies, overlap, no-coverage zones (if any) and signal strengths as measured throughout the facility.
