Hot Swap Devices

Barcoding houses a spare pool inventory to accurately and quickly respond to replacement requests as well as additional users. Having a pool of spare devices gives you the flexibility to pay for a longer turn-around for repairs while still having the convenience of next day service. When an RMA is issued to either replace or fix a defected device, a “Hot Swap” spare will be shipped overnight to your facility to minimize downtime. This device will be shipped automatically with your preloaded software applications, and configured to your network so that it is ready to go out of the box.

Once the device that was originally sent in for repair is either fixed or repaired, it is typically returned to the spare pool waiting to be sent out. Our customers typically keep an inventory of 5-10% of mobile data collection devices that are deployed in their spare pool for hot-swap operations.

An accurate log will be kept to help your organization track loss, damage, and new users including:

• Damage by user, serial number
• Loss by user, serial number
• New devices by user/location/serial number
• Common problems by user, serial number
