Motorola Acquisition of Symbol Technologies

What will happen to the Symbol name and brand?

While Symbol Technologies as a corporate brand will be retired, Motorola's Enterprise Mobility business will continue to gain value from Symbol's brand equity by applying it as a sub-brand for data capture and identification. This will include bar code scanning, payment systems and RFID. The Symbol sub-brand will also be applied to current Symbol products in the rugged computing portfolio. All other products, including wireless networks, will be branded Motorola.

What does this transaction mean for existing customers?

Customers will see real benefits from this combination. The new Motorola Enterprise Mobility business will be uniquely equipped to provide enterprises with a comprehensive mobility platform to seamlessly unify digital information across an enterprise, making mobile solutions more manageable, cost-effective, secure and easier to deploy. Motorola will continue to provide the same rugged Symbol products that customers already rely on.

Does the acquisition impact existing customer contracts?

No.

How will Motorola Enterprise Mobility products will be co-branded with the Symbol name?

While Symbol’s corporate name will change to Motorola, the Symbol name will continue to be used as a subbrand of Motorola for Symbol data capture and identification products, and in the short-term, for Symbol rugged computing products. For example, the LS9203 will now be a Motorola product called Symbol LS9203.
