Intermec Wins AIDC Case Study Competition

AIM selected Intermec as the winner of their AIDC Case Study Competition, for their work with World Vision.

The Association for Automatic Identification and Mobility (AIM) recently selected Intermec by Honeywell as the winner of their inaugural AIDC Case Study Competition. The award recognizes those who have developed solutions that contribute to the growth of the AIDC industry through innovation and technologies that accelerate the demand and adoption of AIDC.

The winning case study was Intermec by Honeywell’s work with World Vision International, who needed to improve their efficiency in distributing aid in the field. What made this challenging was the location and environment—the solution would need to work in unstable areas, such as those that had recently experienced a natural disaster.

Intermec by Honeywell used World Vision’s Last Mile Mobile Solutions (LMMS) software with the Intermec CN50 handheld mobile computer. The solution was intuitive, making it an easy transition for workers.

Once the solution was installed, World Vision instantly saw a 60% improvement in the time required to verify aid beneficiaries—what used to take almost 3 minutes now only takes 30 seconds!

“It’s clear Intermec is a winner in more ways than one,” said Mary Lou Bosco, COO of AIM, Inc. “We had many great submissions for this competition, but in looking at the significance of the Intermec – World Vision project, we were not only impressed with the technical challenges overcome but the global ramifications for this humanitarian effort. This will have a truly life changing impact for so many. We congratulate the entire team for their success and know they have set the standard for AIM’s future case study competitions.”
