UPC’s and SCC’s

UPC: Universal Product Code. These bar codes are commonly found on almost every item manufactured. Typically, a UPC relates to an issue unit, for example, a #10 can of green beans.

SCC: Shipping Container Code. These bar codes are found on the “Case” that units of an item are shipped in.

Upon receipt of an item, it is imperative for the system to differentiate a SCC from a UPC. For example, scan one case (SCC) and two cans (UPS) of green beans and tabulated result will be eight cans posted in the VST system for processing of inventory, production and cost protocols and reporting.
